In short, the Houston Professional Firefighters Association is a charitable foundation acting on a mission to support and protect the health, safety and wellbeing of Houston firefighters and their families. Subsequently, the organization’s efforts end up serving the community as a whole, as these efforts support the ongoing mission of the local fire department.
The organization understands that, though the firefighters do many services for their communities, they need to be poured back into in order to continue showing up for this selfless work. The Houston Professional Firefighters Association exists to give back to these firefighters and their families, especially in their times of need.
What Does the Houston Professional Firefighters Association Do?
Although the general mission of this organization is to support firefighters and their families, they have accomplished this goal in specific ways. Over the past years, the charitable foundation has provided financial relief for firefighters with high medical expenses or residential damage, invested in firefighter and EMS equipment not provided by the city, supplied winter jackets for local children, funded college scholarships for local high schoolers through the annual 9/11 Memorial Golf Tournament and partnered with other charitable organizations in the area.
The Houston Professional Firefighters Association has made great strides since the foundation of the organization in 2013. It has now become a community staple, having been supported by numerous local businesses wanting to invest in its mission.
Outside of support from local businesses, the organization also relies on generous donations from countless community members.
